CLUB HISTORY
The Run Club that Started by Accident
On January 5, 2017, a small group of running friends met at Grand Army Plaza in Prospect Park, Brooklyn at 6:00am, in the dead and dark of winter, to go for a run.
It was a terrible idea. No one thought it would last.
But last it did.
Then, others started to join us. Who were these new, possibly insane people happily running tempo workouts with us before the crack of dawn, we wondered.
Turns out, they were just like us! Nice people who just wanted to run with other nice people, and be part of an inviting, if slightly oddball, community. We were running rogues — a ragtag, off-the-social-grid, underground crew of non-joiners and lone wolves who simply loved to run.
Over time, more nice people found us, simply through word of mouth, and though we were puzzled, we were tickled that our little group kept growing.
Finally, after two years, we had to admit that this terrible idea wasn’t going to fizzle out. Suddenly, we had to admit that maybe there were others like us, and maybe we should give them a chance to find us.
That’s you!
That’s why, on January 5, 2019, two years to the day since that first run, we went double-rogue and became legit. Like, an actual running club, complete with logo, T-shirts, an IG, a hashtag, a website, and all that stuff.
Now, we invite you to join us for a run! It could change your life…
